African television manufacturers are doing the same calculation this year: keep importing finished sets, or assemble locally? The Africa television market was valued at USD 87.83 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 223.21 billion by 2034, a compound annual growth rate of about 10.92 percent, per Market Data Forecast. Television ownership in sub-Saharan Africa still sits below 40 percent. Meanwhile, the East African Community raised its common external tariff on television sets from 25 percent to 35 percent in July 2025, and Nigeria charges roughly 20 percent duty on finished flat-panel TVs while electronic components enter at about 5 percent.
