AI Home Appliances Boom, China’s Smart Manufacturing Opens Trillion-Yuan Growth Space
The four-day 2026 Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE 2026) concluded successfully. As one of the world’s top three home appliance exhibitions, with the theme “Smart Technology, Create Future”, the expo gathered more than 1,200 enterprises, showcasing a new industry ecosystem deeply empowered by AI. It marks that China’s electronic and electrical industry has officially shifted from “scale expansion” to “value innovation” in its high-quality development stage.
1. AI Becomes Standard, Home Appliances Evolve from “Smart” to “Intelligent”
The biggest highlight of this exhibition is the commercialization of AI technology. From kitchens and living rooms to bedrooms, AI has become a standard feature in high-end home appliances. Leading manufacturers including Haier, Midea, Hisense and TCL launched new products equipped with self-developed large models:
AI refrigerators: recognize food ingredients, recommend recipes, automatically replenish groceries and support health management;
AI air conditioners: intelligently detect indoor occupancy, environment and user habits, automatically adjusting temperature, humidity and airflow;
AI TVs: built-in AI assistants for natural conversation, content recommendation and smart home connectivity.
Products have evolved from “single-device intelligence” to “scenario interconnection”. It is predicted that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the penetration rate of AI home appliances and consumer electronics will rise rapidly, driving an additional trillion-yuan market scale and becoming the core growth engine for the next five years.
